The office of Michigan's Public Safety Communications System (MPSCS) has a focused mission of providing statewide public safety communications for more than 2075 state, local, federal, tribal and private public safety agencies.
Through our employees, MPSCS handles the second-largest trunked communication system in the world with 291 tower sites, 90 state and local public safety dispatch centers with 490 radio dispatch consoles and 82 Computer Aided Dispatch consoles, 117,716 radios and 7,046 fire pagers.
The MPSCS Network Communication Center(NCC) monitors systems operations 24 hours a day to ensure the system is ready to assist Michigan's first responders.
The function of any public safety communications system is to assure the rapid response and cooperation of emergency personnel.
The MPSCS achieves this through reliable, easy-to-use statewide coverage and advanced technology.
The ability to share information on demand and in real time, whether it is voice or data, is critical to public safety in Michigan.
This employee is assigned to the Lansing Install shop.
In a learning capacity, the employee performs a range of radio/communications technician assignments and receives close supervision.
The function of this position is to install, repair, program, and perform scheduled maintenance on Integrated in-vehicle equipment to include but not limited to two-way radios, wireless accessories, computers, modems, printers, docking stations, radars, in-car digital cameras, electronic sirens, scanner receivers, vehicle repeaters and other electronic equipment operated by the State of Michigan.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of two-way radio equipment, components and systems.
Knowledge of state and federal two-way radio regulations.
Ability to remove and install two-way radios, wireless accessories, computers, docking stations, radars, in-car digital cameras, electronic sirens, scanner receivers, vehicle repeaters and other electronic equipment.
Required Education and Experience Education Possession of an associate's degree in electronic technology.
Experience Radio/Communications Technician 8 No specific type or amount is required.
Radio/Communications Technician 9 One year of experience equivalent to a Radio/Communications Technician 8.
Radio/Communications Technician E10 Two years of experience equivalent to Radio/Communications Technician, including one year equivalent to a Radio/Communications Technician 9.
Alternate Education and Experience Radio/Communications Technician E10 Possession of a bachelor's degree or higher with 16 semester (24 term) credits in job specific or related course work may be substituted for the education and experience requirements.
Additional Requirements and Information Some positions may require Federal Communications Commission (FCC) licensure.

Vacation and Sick Leave:
Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used.
Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.
Paid Parental Leave:
Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.
Paid Holidays:
Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year's Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
